Winter

The briskly cold winter…
The Japanese garden lets visitors feel wabi-sabi, the beauty of imperfection, along the fallen leaves. The plum blossoms' fragrance and pine trees' beauty withstand the harsh cold, crafting an experience unique to winter.

The Japanese Garden in Daisen Park was built from 1985 to 1988 and opened in March 1989, to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Sakai's designation as a city. The Japanese Garden in Daisen Park is positioned as a center for new cultural creation. It aims to fuse ancient history and new culture while honoring Japanese traditions, and serves as an educational space for many people to visit and enjoy.

The design aim of the Japanese Garden in Daisen Park is to "move with the flow of water to exceed Sakai City's progress and momentum, envisioning a historical, international and green city which is further evolving." As such, the garden's scenery is formed in a style known by many visitors as a "tsukiyama rinsen kaiyu styled garden," which depicts natural elements through artificially made mountains, waterfalls, streams and ponds.

At the Japanese Garden in Daisen Park, the shifting four seasons can be enjoyed in the park's trails, bridges, and gazebos. In addition to flowers, visitors can feel the various seasonal expressions of the park through the water's flow and the leaves' fragrance fluttering in the wind.
